The Event  - The first event in a series of cycling tours organised by  Mark Lyons Recruitment supporting various charities that need all our support.

During the Virtual Cycle Tour of Britain, participants who are fundraising for lifesaving cancer research have the flexibility to choose how and when they ride.  You may wish to cycle  stationary using a turbo trainer / indoor bike  or better still taking in the fresh air on the open road. The event will include seven (stage) days. All rider’s mileage will be aggregated to see how much of Britain the riders can cover.

Please feel free to follow  our charitable  and  non-charitable  virtual cycling events at https://www.linkedin.com/company/mark-lyons-recruitment-cycling-community

The Charity - The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from the public make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to their patients and their families.  Thanks to funds raised they provide life-saving research, the latest high-tech equipment and support services that help make cancer treatments more effective and a little easier for their patients. The Christie itself is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe and  treating more than 60,000 patients a year.

My Story -  We have all been touched by friends, family and colleagues who have been given a cancer diagnosis.   For me I feel like one of the lucky ones who was operated on within two weeks after my diagnosis three years ago, and treated at The Christie.  Having met some amazing staff and courageous patients, some with a terminal prognosis is always going to change someone's views of what's important.  It changed me !  This event will remind me of the fantastic people I have met  and those people who sadly are no longer with us.  It will drive me up the tough hills, or push me along the evening rides. This is for all those it took from us and to support all the future patients in The Christie care.  This is for you!
