Hello everyone and welcome to the charity website of the ‘Afghan Aces’. We are a group of Military people from across the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force who work at the Quartermasters Department at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. We are raising funds and awareness for the ‘Support our Soldiers’ charity who do tremendous work improving our moral, providing tastes of home in comfy boxes. They are not limited to this kind of work and involve themselves in the more difficult aspects of service life including providing essentials to those hurt while on operations or assisting families adjusting to life with an injured loved one. This is their 10 anniversary and are trying to raise funds to support Regional Rehabilitation Units that continue the outstanding work started at Headley Court.
So what are we going to do to earn your cash???? The 29 June is Armed Forces day and the middle weekend of the Tennis at Wimbledon so we thought mix the both occasions and do a 24 hour Tennis marathon! Tennis in Afghanistan?????! Yes that’s right, we will clear away the whole of our work spacse and set up the court. There will be about 20 of us playing doubles in a ‘winner stays on’ arrangement playing a ‘best of 3 games’ format. So those of you any good at maths will realise our chances of any sleep is virtually Nil! We will be playing in some kind of fancy dress too just to add to the occasion! So what do you think? Has to worth a few quid for a good cause – right? Hopefully your agreeing and rushing for your credit card – thanks!
We’ll keep you updated and post a few photo’s to keep you interested but we will be earning your money using the precious little down time he have on operations to raise funds and awareness for a Military charity on a special Military day.
Please remember to leave a message with your donations. Make them funny, personal, inspirational or supportive but do make one as we’ll all read them to see us through the tiring early hours and of course the Tennis Elbow!!!!
Thanks for your support
