Story
The AES Solar team are embarking on an adventure to complete the 3 peaks challenge to raise funds for our chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation.
Team members from across the firm’s different departments and some friends of the company will scale Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales all within 24 hours!
The group of 15 people will drive from Forres to Fort William for a few hours’ sleep on the Friday night, before starting the ascent of Ben Nevis at 6am on the Saturday. After descending the 1345m of Ben Nevis the team will be transferred by minibus to Scafell Pike (978m) and thereafter to Snowdon (1085m) for a night-time ascent with the aim of completing the challenge by 7am on the Sunday morning.
Campbell MacLennan and Stuart Engelmann have been planning the adventure for a number of months. Campbell said “The idea has developed from a few of us walking a local Munroe to a group of 15 completing the national 3 peaks challenge. Its typical of the people within the company to be ambitious and aim high. There has been a fair bit of researching and organising a challenge for this number of people, and we are grateful to the company who have covered the cost of the Friday night accommodation, minibus and fuel. However, now the training starts!”
Stuart added “The team consists of varying hiking experience and abilities but also a range of ages with the youngest being 11 and the eldest in his 60's, so we will all have to support and encourage each other along the way”.
They are aiming to raise a total of £2,000 for the charity.
Team AES Solar will start the challenge on Friday 28 September and there are sure to be a few sore legs in the office on Monday morning.
