Dementia is caused by diseases which damage the brain by causing a loss of nerve cells that, over time, can affect memory, problem solving, language and behaviour. It is a progressive disease (which means it will get worse over time) and is currently the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.

Alzheimer's disease is just one specific cause of dementia but is the most common.

Other causes of dementia are Vascular dementia, Mixed dementia, Dementia with Lewy bodies and Frontotemporal dementia.

We are passionate about supporting The Alzheimers Society and Dementia UK. We have witnessed the heartbreaking devastation of this terrible disease first hand through too many of our customers supporting members of their family through the hardship, suffering and loss that accompanies it and the wonderful support they get from charities as The Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK.

The importance of exercise in helping to prevent the onset of brain disease and in slowing down its progression in those individuals suffering the disease can not be underestimated! 

Aerolatino is designed to keep both body and mind healthy. Our choreography is built in blocks to aid concentration and involves both left and right to lead which supports brain function and the creation and maintenance of neural pathways. The low impact, high energy workout means all ages can benefit from a workout that both conditions our body and keeps the mind alert and healthy. 

Most importantly, more than being ‘just’ another fitness programme we are also very much a community, a family and that’s why we want to give something back.

With Covid -19, charities (and all people and families, but especially those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s) are struggling more than ever .

Living with dementia can be an incredibly hard and lonely experience for both the person with dementia and their family and these two charities are a lifeline to many of the people and families suffering it.


The  Alzheimer’s Society

The  Alzheimer’s Society is helping by transforming the landscape of dementia forever through funding research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia. They are dedicated to defeating dementia through research and, until the day they find a cure, are working to create a society where those  affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear. Alzheimers Society offers telephone and online support and information from specially trained dementia advisors and their Dementia Connect initiative gives side by side, face to face support to those suffering with Alzheimer’s to continue to be active in their community and continue to do what they love.

Dementia UK

Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through their Admiral Nurse service. When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving them the one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions they need. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline–it helps everyone in the family to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear. Dementia UK offer the only nurse-led dementia helpline in the UK, and gives practical, emotional and psychological support to anyone affected by dementia 7 days a week.
