Story
Well its the week after the event, and I'm delighted to say it all went better than expected, as i came 33rd out of 300 in the mens open sprint race. Now at over one hour 20 mins racing, i hardly call it a sprint, but the training paid off and i felt good throughout the race. After training in the Sheffield hills, the flat course and decent race bike meant i was wizzing round the track and having friends and family there to cheer me on was a great boost.
Anyone considering doing an event like this- just do it. Its a really friendly sport with all sorts of fitness levels participating and one of the fastest growing sports around. Plus with such a great summer we've had, it gives you a great excuse to get outside and train.
Many thanx to all the people who've sponsored me so far, although we're still a little off the £500 mark and have until end of Sept to raise, so any more donations will be much appreciated. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Kidscape Campaign For Children's Safety will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
