Every three seconds, someone is diagnosed with dementia. It is the second-biggest killer of Australians. It is not a normal part of ageing and the impact of this slow degenerative disease is heart-breaking. Our thoughts, our memories, our ability to comprehend and engage with the world around us are precious; they make us who we are. Dementia gradually wears these away.
There are 472,000 Australians living with dementia and a further 1.6 million involved in their care. Currently there is no cure, no treatment to slow its progression, and an incomplete understanding of what causes the disease.
Research into dementia is gathering pace and UQ's Queensland Brain Institute is leading the global hunt for a cure. By helping us with our fundraising for QBI's dementia research you will help the team of researchers continue the fight against dementia.
Your donations to this worthy and extremely important cause will be much appreciated. So many of us have friends and family that have been affected by this heartbreaking disease. Dementia does not discriminate.
Thank you.
