Story
Dear friends and Whanau,
In May 2023, I will be joining a merry band of people, many of whom have only just become cyclists, to take on cycling 180 miles / 290 kilometers from London to Paris over 3 days. Covering nearly 100 kilometers a day using their own legs and steely determination. Why you ask? Because…
Hope starts here - with African Parks. Our chosen fundraising organisation, which is dedicated to protecting and preserving Africa's precious wildlife and wilderness areas, and we need your help to continue their critical work.
As the natural historian, biologist, broadcaster and legend David Attenborough said, “Nature once determined how we survive. Now we determine how Nature survives.”
Did you know that over the past 40 years, Africa has lost nearly 50% of its elephant population? Without action, these magnificent creatures could disappear from the wild within our lifetime. But with your support, African Parks can continue to protect and conserve elephants and other endangered species, while also creating sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
African Parks work extends far beyond just protecting wildlife. They manage over 15 million hectares of land across 19 protected areas, including national parks, reserves, and wildlife corridors. This means we're also safeguarding critical ecosystems that provide clean water, regulate the climate, and support the livelihoods of millions of people.
But we can't do it alone. We need your support to continue making a difference. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a significant impact. Just US$50 can cover the cost of removing a snare from a trapped animal, while US$100 can fund a full day of aerial surveillance to help prevent poaching.
So please, join us in our mission to protect Africa's wildlife and wild places. As we cycle every mile from London to Paris, your donation will help ensure that future generations can experience the wonder and beauty of Africa's natural world. We take on both a physical and mentally gruelling challenge, that will happen over hills and through whatever weather Nature may present us with. Your support will push us forward and keep us peddling. Together, we can make a difference. Hope starts here.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Sunny!
