Story
Living with Motor Neurone Disease is a huge challenge for both the sufferer and their nearest and dearest. We witnessed this first hand during Rory Merchant's brave and remarkably good humoured journey in the face of such debilitating symptoms. Irene, his wife, did everything she could to make his life as normal, comfortable and as much fun as possible right to the very end. The support provided by the MNDA to our friends Rory, who sadly died last October, and Irene, enabled them to achieve this and, for this reason, I would like to give something back by running in the Great North Run in September 2014 and raising funds so the MNDA can continue their great work.
Those of you who know me well will realise this is quite a test for me, not being a natural athlete by any stretch of the imagination, but this is something I'm keen to achieve for such an inspirational cause.
I may post photos of my training to keep you amused along the way!!! One of Rory's greatest traits was his brilliant sense of humour so I have "considered" running in a costume; it has to be something that would have amused him!? Any suggestions!?
Any donation, be it small or large, will be gratefully received and will help the MNDA to continue their brilliant work and more importantly help fund research that we hope will one day soon eradicate this terrible disease so no one has to suffer with it ever again.
