Story
Almost a year in planning and seven and a half days of cycling we arrived in Paris, as planned, at lunch time on Saturday 26th July. Everything went exactly to plan and the weather was very kind. We actually covered 111 miles on the longest day and around 35 on the shortest day that also involved the channel ferry crossing. The only slight set back was late on the second day when we were confronted with a thigh deep ford as wide as a small dual carriage way (not exactly what we expected in the heart of England, but it was in fact a bit of a laugh).
So if you have been waiting to see if we completed the trip before making a contribution, now is the time to do it. Please be generous it’s a good cause. Many thanks if you have contributed, it is much appreciated.
We’re calling it ‘Tower to Tower’, a long distance bicycle ride. We start on the 19th July 08 in the shadow of Blackpool Tower and finish, seven days later, at the Eiffel Tower in Paris (the day before Le Tour de France does likewise), a distance of roughly 590 miles. The ‘we’ in question is myself, my brother-in-law Robert and my son Alistair. We all live some distance apart so have made our own choices of charity to support but, we are each riding in aid of hospice care or cancer research. We are funding all costs ourselves so all sponsorship for me will go straight to St. Michaels hospice.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Please be as generous as you can and sponsor me online. Maybe you could also pass on the address of this page to anyone you think would be prepared to help as well.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Saint Michael's Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
