We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Why has an old guy like me challenged himself to walk hundreds of kilometres from France into Spain along the Camino to Santiago de Compostela, and on to Finisterre?

Why? Because I love a challenge.

Three years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Now, here I am, about to embark on a long and challenging walk. That diagnosis was scary, but early diagnosis and treatment led to a successful outcome.

When I mentioned to my oncologist that I was planning to celebrate my 74th birthday along the Camino, she was flabbergasted at first … but then asked me to do it in support of Prostate Cancer UK. I could hardly refuse!

My challenge became three challenges:

•    to walk the 1000 kilometres
•    to raise money by asking lots of generous   people to sponsor me and help Prostate Cancer UK to fund life saving research
•    to raise awareness of the disease and to encourage other men to get symptoms checked and get the treatment they need.

Please donate if you can. By supporting my efforts, you’ll help others.
