Story
Dear Friends - thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Due to recurring moments of weakness I’ve been talked into undertaking a variety of “sporting events” for which I’m physically ill equipped. Those of you familiar with the format of Triathlons will be impressed with the 127 mile bike ride followed by a one mile swim and then thirteen mile run I am intending to undertake. Maybe a little less impressed when tell you this is going to take me six weeks! Come on you didn’t really think I was going to do all that in one day!
My own personal Triathlon:
1) The (unofficial) Great North Cycle – 7/8 August 2010 – Liverpool to Leeds along the Leeds/Liverpool canal. 2) The Great North Swim – 4 September 2010 - One mile swim in Lake Windermere (POSTPONED) - So went to Coniston Water and swam 1.6 miles there instead!! 3) The Great North Run – 19 September 2010 - Half Marathon from Newcastle to South Shields. While my involvement in these events started out more as an act of stupidity rather than charity, I’ve been motivated to raise money for an immensely worthy cause – Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
The fact I’ve chosen to raise money for this charity is no random selection. Many of you will be aware that my business partner (Heather Jackson) is fighting a recurrence of the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma she suffered three years ago. Heather is doing well but the fight goes on both for Heather and in the battle to beat cancer once and for all.
Cancer survival rates have doubled in recent years and charities like Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research have been at the heart of this progress. I hope you can help me give something back for the tremendous work they are undertaking.
Many thanks for your support.
Adrian.
