Event: Moonlit Memories Walk, on 20 May 2023
In memory of Sue Jennings
Moonlit Memories is a sponsored six or ten mile walk under the night sky to remember a loved one whilst taking in the iconic sights of Portsmouth and Southsea, and raising much-needed funds for local Hospice care.

Story

Sue first got cancer in 2008. After extensive treatment and surgery we believed she was clear of the disease. She led an active life and was always positive. Unfortunately in early 2022 they disease returned and returned with vengeance. It was a particularly aggressive and quite rare cancer. Treatment was ineffective and eventually the cancer became terminal. Despite this Sue remained hopeful that a cure was just around the corner. Unfortunately it was not to be. Sue became unwell and was admitted to QAH. This was a traumatic period so she was eventually transferred to The Rowans for respite. This was a blessing for Sue, her pain was somewhat eased and after a couple of weeks she was able to return home. Just a week later Sue lost consciousness and passed peacefully away. The care Rowans provided enabled Sue to share some precious family moments during her final days, moments we will all remember.
