Story
Having flogged ourselves half to death cycling from London to Paris last year, the Quantuma team is back this year to continue the journey. Starting in Paris, we are cycling to Geneva. Which apparently includes some hills towards the end... (Col de la Faucille - which certainly won't be very facile...)
This year we are cycling to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, Quantuma's charity for 2022. Our colleague Greg Carrier was diagnosed with stage one bowel cancer in March 2021. Following surgery to remove the tumour in April 2021, Greg was told that he actually had accelerated stage three cancer, which had spread further than originally thought. This further diagnosis meant Greg underwent a gruelling series of chemotherapy and further surgery. He suffered blood clots on his right lung as a result and he still takes medication to alleviate this. Greg is a real fighter though and we were delighted to welcome him back to work last October.
Greg and his family received vital support from Bowel Cancer UK following his diagnosis and we at Quantuma feel a collective responsibility to give back to them, not just for the support they gave to Greg, but for the support they offer to all families in a similar situation and for the vital work they do in raising awareness about bowel cancer. Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. They are there to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
