Story
Thank you for finding my charity challenge page. I am going to try and ride 900 miles in June (3x more than I did last year in June!). I will not repeat the same route, I will not find flat roads and go round and round, that would be too dull. So I intend to take in as many local iconic climbs as possible, Woodfall, Kirkedge, Abney, Winnats, Mam Nick and not to forget Deliverance. Disclaimer; I am a keen cyclist but not a climber!
It is injury that I most fear along with the wind and rain. However, managing the drug screening facility in SITraN at the University of Sheffield, where many teams, on a daily basis, try to find cures for many neurodegenerations, including Parkinson's disease, I know how important every penny raised will be in finding, not just symptomatic therapies, but life changing cures for patients, and their families, who struggle on a daily basis. 18000 people a year are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and 145000 people will be living with it in the UK this year. My motivation, to make me forget the sore backside I am bound to get, is my friend Roger and his family, 1 of those 145000. To find a cure in his lifetime would be just amazing and worth every hour spent pedaling round the all too many hills of Sheffield.
