Story

As many of you are aware, my family and I have been doing events this year to raise money for St Davids Hospice Care. These events were to keep my father in high spirits throughout his last months.

Sadly on 6.04.13, my father, Adrian Gettins succumbed to the illness of cancer. He had been fighting cancer for 6 years and could not continue anymore. He had a wonderful life and he passed peacefully. He was a man of great stamina, determination and drive that powers on through all of us. He waited for all his family to be with him, to see the twins first smiles, to hear Bethan babbling and he waited for his mum to visit. He waited to see the early days of spring so that he could enjoy the sunshine and his beautiful daffodils that were planted for him in the garden.

I am doing this run as a memorial for him. A man who has pushed me on to accomplish my goals. I believe life has a plan for us, mine is to become an art therapist and if it wasn't for lifes hard lessons and dads constant encouragement I would not be starting the course this year. I want to continue with running and felt that this was the next step for me.

This is not just a memorial to him but also a celebration for his life!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I really appreciate all the support and I know dad will be looking down smiling. I appreciate any donations that you can manage.

Lots of Love

Katie
