#TeamSCT are taking on this iconic marathon to support families with critically ill children in hospital and give them a warm comfortable place to stay free of charge minutes from their child's bedside.

Story

When a child suddenly becomes ill, there's no time to plan. The Sick Children's Trust is the charity that gives families one less thing to worry about by giving them a place to stay, and someone to talk to, free of charge just minutes from their child's bedside.

Suzanne was inspired by watching her daughter's boyfriend Jonny running last year's marathon and after a break of some years decided to apply and received her own place in the ballot.

Now at 58 she is back in training and as her partner I have decided to join her in doing a marathon - mine however will be on a rowing machine as two replacement knees precludes me from running one.

I will be attempting this at home on the day before Suzanne runs the London Marathon.

We are so proud to be associated with the SCT and the wonderful work that they do - the whole team is dedicated and professional led by our dear friend Jane.

We have been so lucky to bring up four children between us with no major health issues and can only imagine the anguish that is experienced by parents faced with this situation - any money we can raise to help them would be brilliant.
