Rural villages in Malawi are very impoverished and do not have basic infrastucture for the villagers. In the midst of the extreme poverty are orphans who are fighting a daily battle to survive. Having been deprived of the shelter of a father or the love of a mother, these orphans are usually looked after by extended family members.

During our visits to Malawi we encountered many orphans in various villages who were neglected and could use our support. Therefore, Green Crescent Aid UK will be building its first purpose built orphanage to house many orphans. Phase 1 of this project will be to build two building blocks. One to house approximately 30 orphans and a second block for classrooms and lounges. The buildings will be in a modern design and built to withstand the harsh monsoon weather and provide a safe shelter for the orphans.
