When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

I am participating again in a Stroke Association charity event (The Thames Bike Ride, 22nd of May 2011) to honour my grandmother's memory and to raise money to help other people who are in her situation. She died two years ago, after being severely affected by 2 stroke attacks, and I really miss her since she raised me when I was a little girl.
So please help me in my efforts to support people affected by stroke and more research into how to prevent this condition. Despite cancer being so prominent these days as a major cause of death, three times more women die from stroke than breast cancer andSadly, it also affects young people, as 10,000 people under the age of 30 will have a stroke each year.
So please dig deep and help decrease these terrifying statistics!
I appreciate every penny raised here and will put in 110% effort into beating Patrick at the bike race ;o)
