Adele Rayner's Fundraising Page

Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I decided to run the marathon after being persuaded by Marisa (my friend). Unfortunately Marisa has had to defer until next year because she found out she was carrying a brother or sister for Rocco - that's why I feel like billy no-mates pounding around Ilford and Gants Hill. Marisa's brother Alex felt strongly about the under privileged especially the homeless people living on the streets and in fact he was homeless for a time. Shelter helps thousands of people who are in distress caused by homelessness and bad housing – something all of us privileged people take for granted. Sadly Alex passed away in November 2007 and we wanted to continue contributing to this great charity in his absence.
Anyone that knows me will confirm that this time last year the words gym and exercise were simply not in my vocabulary. I have been training since I decided to take on this challenge in July last year, completing the Brighton half marathon race and the 16 mile Breakfast run in Kingston as well as running in the beautiful British weather throughout Dec, Jan and Feb! It's amazing how running these distances can make you look the image of John Wayne the next day!! My legs, feet, hips, knees, back, muscles, ligaments, joints, arms, fingers, brain, eyes and ears have all taken a battering through this training. I can now tell you that running is definitely not for me and I can honestly say that if I wasn't running for Alexs' charity I would definitely have pulled out long ago - this is one of the hardest challenges ever, ever!!!! So please dig deep and sponsor me. It will make all the difference in helping me get to the finish line. Just think of me when you’re tucking into your Sunday roast, pounding the streets ofEssex and beyond!
Feel free to come along and support me on Sunday 26 April - I'll need it. And thanks again. :o)
