Alistair and Adele are running their first(and last) half marathon TOGETHER! We have taken time out from looking after the children to train, and are really looking forward to it. We hope to achieve around 2 hours. Cardiff is a great course for long distance race beginners like Adele, and runners like Alistair, who's knees are in bits from past efforts. We are running for Macmillan Cancer care, which has become paticularly relevant as Alistair's mother has recently been diagnosed with cancer. It is sadly a condition which has affected so many of our families.
We hope you will be able to support our efforts. We have done the training, and will do the sweating, puffing and aching afterwards - all we ask is that you support us with a donation to this worthy charity. The race is on Sunday October 18th, in Cardiff.
We will keep you up to date on how we do!
I will update you of our efforts, in pink - the colour we were when we were puffing through the last few miles!!
We had a really splendid day - the weather was clear, crisp and cool- great for distance running. Over 11,000 mad people took part, many supporting charities like ourselves. We got whisked along by the crowd, somewhat quicker than we had intended to set out, so the last few miles were tougher than we had hoped. All that controlled training, out the window. But it was great fun running with so many others, and with lots of supporters shouting us on. We finished in 1hr 58minutes, managing abit of a sprint at the last. A commendable effort, given the restrictions on our training schedule and injuries along the way.Alistair is going to get his knees fixed next week!
As you see, we finished our race in the coffee shop- back in the place we know best!
Our account remains open until after Christmas, so if anyone wants to support us retrospectively, we would be very pleased.
Thankyou all very much!
Adele and Alistair Caton
