Story
I never anticipated the birth of my twin's to be that much more stressful than the birth of my eldest; but it was. From the minute I was wheeled into the operating theatre the atmosphere between my two birth stories could not have been more different. My friendly consultant suddenly became extremely serious and the large number of support staff went around the room saying who they were and what their specific jobs were on that cold November morning. Our story ended happily, but not all do.
Twins are twice as likely to be stillborn and 3.5 times more likely to die as newborns, compared to pregnancies with one baby.
By 2022, Twins Trust aim to save 580 babies’ lives. They will achieve this goal, by helping the NHS to improve maternity care for multiple pregnancies. Twins Trust has a Centre for Research and Clinical Excellence and a Maternity Engagement team working successfully with 40 units across the UK already. But to save 580 babies' lives, they need to be able to do even more.
My goal is get 580 people to donate £1 buy 10 April 2021 to help babies born as multiples have just as much a chance to life as those born as singletons.
