Update on Friday 11th June. Leg wax done. Now for the main event next week...

** UPDATE - APRIL 2010 **

Check out my training progress at the following link

Between June 19th and June 26th a group of us who are old enough to know better will be cycling the length of the country in aid of the Christie Charity.

Land's End to John o' Groats (abbreviated LEJOG) is the traversal of the whole length of the island of Great Britain between two extremities; in the southwest and northeast.

For the gentlemen

Land’s End is the extreme south-westward (but not southern or western) point of Great Britain, situated in western Cornwall at the end of the Penwith Peninsula.

John o’ Groats is the traditionally acknowledged extreme northern point of Scotland, in north-eastern Caithness

The distance by road is 874 miles (1,407 km).

For the ladies

Land’s End is at the bottom

John o’ Groats is at the top

It’s a long way

I’m really looking forward to this.  I’m in training already as I need to get in shape (and lose about a stone in weight too).  I’m planning quite a few long rides between now and June including a couple of cyclo-sportives (races!!).  I’ve set up a blog to record both my training and preparation, and the ride itself, which you can find at ade2010lejog.wordpress.com

Most importantly, this is for a great cause.  The Christie Charity raises funds to help provide additional services and undertake vital research for cancer patients. As one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating more than 40,000 patients a year every penny really does count.  I’ve set a high target for fundraising so anything, anything at all, that you can sponsor me will be brilliant.  Please do what you can and feel free to forward this page onto anyone you think may wish to help such a great charity.  Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks

Ade
