Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Adcock JustGiving page.
Following our success in 2016 with one team from our Cambridge branch, we are taking part in the 2017 Chariots of Fire run, Cambridgeshire’s largest annual charity event on the 17th September. Teams of six each run a 1.7 mile course through central Cambridge in relay format.
Last year our Cambridge team raised £857.68. All teams who
took part in the run raised over £138,000 for last year’s charity Papworth Hospital, a record breaking amount for Chariots of Fire.
For 2017, we are entering three Adcock teams. We have two
male teams from our Cambridge branch, Adcock Cool Stars and Adcock Hot Shots. We also have a mixed team from the Head Office, Adcock 1964 Vintage. Our team members range from marathon runners to complete amateurs.
All money raised through the 2017 Chariots of Fire will go
to Alzheimer’s Research UK. It will support a vital project at the University of Cambridge exploring why people with Down’s Syndrome develop Alzheimer’s.
Last year Alzheimer’s overtook heart disease as the leading
cause of death in England and Wales and there are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK today, a number forecast to hit one million in the next decade.
