Big Battlefield Bike Ride 2023 - Dunkirk · 11 June 2023 to 17 June 2023 ·
I fulfilled my life ambition and served in the Royal Air Force as an aircraft technician from the age 16 ½ until compulsory redundancy in 2011. My career included working on many different platforms including the VC10, Hawk, Tornado, Nimrod , Trade Training and
Specific Training Schools, Non Destructive Testing and Deployment overseas including Iraq.
I never thought I would need the help and support but after 6 years from leaving the Royal Air Force, H4H were there to support me and my family when I needed them.
In 2022 - The Somme - I had the honour to cycle with 150 others; one cyclist had last September a Quadruple-bypass and another Long Covid-19/Omicron for 14 weeks started back in January 2022.
H4H help veterans, and those still serving, by providing physical, psychological, financial and welfare support for as long as they need it. They also support families, because they too can be affected by their loved ones wounds. They receive almost no Government funding, which means they rely on the spirit and generosity of the UK public, partners and volunteers to keep going. They have already supported more than 27,000 people and wont stop until every wounded veteran gets the support they deserve. The BBBR Dunkirk route follows in the footsteps of the British Expeditionary Force and tells the story of Operation Dynamo, when more than 338,000 troops were evacuated from Dunkirk in June 1940. For over a decade, the charity bike ride has used pedal-power to raise vital funds to give strength to wounded veterans and their families.
