Story
In 2019 I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer. This began a cancer journey that included multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and many many scans.
In 2020 I started working on a piece of devised theatre about my cancer in association with Camden People's Theatre that incorporated ideas of decision making and parallel universes, and drew upon the fact that I was nearly a doctor but instead chose to become a theatre director.
The piece responded to the words of my oncologist who said "perhaps being a theatre director you can do something useful with your cancer"
The piece is a mixture of gig, lecture and storytelling that looks at what I learnt about life when I was faced with my own mortality at the age of 34. It's a piece about the choices we make, the way we learn to live with mess, and how we learn to live optimistically when tough things happen.
I am honoured to be working with Macmillan as a fundraiser to inform audiences about the support that is available for those going through cancer and to raise funds for their invaluable work. They do incredible things for those with cancer and their families and help to provide optimism, information and care.
I would be so grateful for any donations you might be able to spare for this incredible cause.
