Story

Myself, Richard Defries and John Cade are taking part in a 1 day challenge, to play 72 holes of golf, in aid of Macmillan Cancer support. We are planning the challenge for the 20th of July at Gog Magog Golf club in Cambridge.

Macmillan Cancer support is an amazing charity that support families through the difficult times of those affected by Cancer.

This is a brief idea of what the money that is raised can do:

  • £25 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
  • £50 could pay for 106 copies of The Cancer Guide. This Macmillan booklet can help someone recently diagnosed with cancer, and their families, understand more about cancer, its treatment and the help available.
  • £250 could provide five people with clear information and face-to-face support at our Mobile Macmillan Cancer Information Centre.
  • £904 could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for a week. They work with community and social services agencies to help people manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.
  • £2,369 could operate the financial element of our phone service for a day. In this time, our cancer support specialists could, on average, deal with 38 cases and help secure £78,699 in unclaimed benefits.
  • £5,000 will run our CancerLine for nearly three days, providing essential information and support to people who might not have anywhere else to turn.

Thank you very much for every donation made as it is all going to a brilliant cause.
