Nearly 50 million people live with dementia worldwide, including an estimated 850,000 in the UK. It’s estimated that this number will increase to one million by 2021. This year, another 225,000 people in the UK will develop the condition – about one every three minutes.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
To support the fantastic work the Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer's Scotland do, I am attempting something I never thought I would. Long distance running is so far out of my comfort zone it's untrue! However, I will be flying to Copenhagen to run the city's half marathon on 16th September, before returning to Nottingham to complete the home leg on 30th September.
In Denmark, I am humbled to have the opportunity to run with Team Tvilling, a wonderful group of volunteers who give the gift of running and cycling to those who cannot do it themselves.

Fingers crossed, I make it to the finishing lines! Any support or donations will not only be hugely appreciated but will go to a great cause. They will also be matched pound for pound by HSBC.
Wish me luck!
