Story
The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo, and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) are partnering to raise funds for children battling illness by supporting 27 runners representing CHAM in the TCS New York City Marathon.
Every year Montefiore gathers a team, which they coin CHAMpions, to run the 26.2-mile route and raise critical funds that support children undergoing treatments at the hospital.
Money raised by the Champion for CHAM marathon runners will benefit CHAM's Quality in Life Team (QUILT). This team of palliative care experts are trained to help families navigate medical decisions and offer support as they face the uncertainty of life-threatening and fatal illnesses. Additionally, QUILT provides supportive contact for those patients who are unable to have a family member present due to infection control issues.
