Story

STEPPIN’  OUT FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

Until recently the only salsa Adam Bell had ever tried was with his home cooked chili and tortillas…

Now the 24-year-old recruitment consultant is surprising his family, friends and colleagues with his commitment to the dance floor version.

It’s all in a good cause: Adam, from Edinburgh, is one of 20 participants in the Highland version of Strictly Come Dancing, to help raise funds for the local hospice.  He and his dancing partner Alison White, 27, a photographer with the Highland News, have been rehearsing three or four times each week to perfect their Latin routine.  They are also looking forward to the group dance, a Michael Jackson medley, which will set the tone for an evening of competitive dance at Inverness Ice Rink, on Saturday, May 10.

“I'm getting pelters left, right and centre! but I’m getting used to it!” said Adam, as rehearsals for the final night intensify towards Easter.  “We’re also working on a tango, which has to be very crisp and dramatic – so it’s quite hard work.

“It’s meant giving up a lot of spare time, but as well as meeting up with and getting to know the other competitors, I’m getting leaner and fitter.  Now I know how the amateurs feel on Strictly Come Dancing…it’s much harder than it looks!”

I encourage you all to give what you can, for a truly special cause, the Highland Hopsice fund.

Thanks for all your help and support.
