Story

An uncle is a blessing. It means so many things. Words could never tell the joy an uncle brings. An uncle is a bond of faith that even time can’t sever, a gift to last all of our lives. An uncle is forever. But you weren’t just an uncle to me. You were a big brother and a best friend.

What a fighter you are! The past few years were tough, but with the unconditional love and care from Nan, you fought until the very end. Dementia is a horrible disease that needs more investment and research. With that in mind, I will be running the Manchester Marathon in April 2023 in your memory. I’m sure you will be watching over me with a can of Carling!

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
