London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
After running the virtual London Marathon on a particularly wet and cold October day in 2020 I’m back to do it for real this time, with actual crowds and other people running!
As before I’m running for Royal Trinity Hospice in Clapham, all of us will have experienced the need for end of life care for our relatives. In this country it’s largely funded through voluntary donations, not the NHS as you might expect.
Trinity Hospice is just across Clapham Common from where I was born (the South London Hospital for Women is now a Tesco!) and has provided wonderful care for the local community. It’s also where my wife Fiona has worked as a counsellor so we both feel very passionately about supporting it.
Each year the Hospice needs to raise £11 million to continue to support about 2500 patients.
So please give what you can, £30 funds garden maintenance for a day, £50 funds community nurses travel for a day, £100 funds an art therapist for a day and £200 fund a dementia nurse for a day.
At Trinity, every moment matters. The staff go above and beyond to help patients and their families make the most of every moment they have left. Last year, Trinity cared for over 2,400 people at the hospice and out in the community. All donations will help Trinity continue to provide their vital care, free of charge, and be there for patients and their families.
Thank you
