The half marathon was a great success and I would really appreciate any more donations if you can spare them.

In this past month we learnt of the shocking and tragic news that our friend and colleague David Bennett had passed away after suffering a heart attack. Despite their best efforts, paramedics were unable to save him. David was a loyal worker at Waitrose Yateley, and had been a partner for over 25 years. Upon request of his family, all donations for the funeral were to be made to the British Heart Foundation.

With this in mind, I have decided to run the Reading Half Marathon on April 1st 2012 to raise as much money as I can and in memory of David. Any donations, no matter how large or small, are greatly appreciated and do go to a fantastic cause, as heart failure could affect anyone.

Running the half marathon will also be a tremendous challenge for me as, after running the Yateley 10k last year and beginning pre-season training I was unfortunate enough to injure my knee which kept me out of football and running for a good 8 months. This half marathon will be the first long distance run I have completed since my injury so I am hoping all will go smoothly!
