Story
Hi All.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February of 2018 I will be attempting a challenge that will see me cycle (on a stationary bike) a total of 500 miles in 5 days. I have zero experience in cycling so this is a whole new thing for me but for such a worthy cause.
It’s time to stand up and end the stigma against mental health, and make everyone aware that it is okay to talk!
Statistics show that around 850,000 children and young people in the UK are affected by mental health and emotional problems.
· That’s three children in every classroom.
· One in five young adults show signs of an eating disorder.
· One in 12 deliberately harm themselves – 25,000 of them are hospitalised each year because of this.
· Nearly 80,000 children and young people suffer from severe depression.
With good mental health, children and young people do better in every way. They are happier in their families, do better at school, and enjoy friendships and new experiences.
YoungMinds is a small organisation trying to make a big difference and with your support they can continue empowering children and young people, supporting parents and carers, training professionals, making mental health information accessible, changing policy and challenging stigma.
Your generosity will help to continue their vital work, improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. They try to achieve their aims by providing expert knowledge through their free and confidential Parents Helpline, participation with young people, professional training, work in schools and ensuring mental health is placed firmly on the public and political agenda.
Thanks!
