Story
I lost my grandad 4 years ago to pick's disease which is a form of dementia similar to Alzheimer's but far less common. It affects parts of the brain that control emotions, behaviour, personality, and language.
It was a very tough time as a family having to seeing my grandad struggle. A lot of the time not knowing where he was, who we were and not been able to communicate with us.
So on the 14th of May 2022 I will be taking on the The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. I am hoping to complete the challenge in under 12 hours in the loving memory of my Grandad, Ralph Preshous.
Every donation will help make sure that no family has to face dementia alone. Thank you so much for your support.

Dementia UK is the only specialist dementia nurse charity
There is no cure for dementia. But there is care. And care can change lives. That's why Dementia UK is here. Our specialist dementia nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Half of UK adults name dementia as their most feared health condition and, despite the ever-growing prevalence, its hugely misunderstood and stigmatised. Worlds become smaller, lives are put on hold and families are impacted in many complex and unique ways.
That's why our Admiral Nurses are so needed: experienced, dementia specialists who work directly with families where they are most needed in peoples homes, hospitals, GP practices and care homes. They also provide vital support via Dementia UKs national Helpline and Clinic service, ensuring that anyone, anywhere in the UK can access expert support and advice from a dementia specialist nurse - every day of the week. This support has been needed more than ever throughout the pandemic which has left thousands of families isolated, bereaved and in despair.
