Story
My Dad, Jim Noonan, passed away last September from cancer. He was a lovely man and I was lucky to have a father like him. The illness was a huge shock and progressed very rapidly. I registered for the Bath Half (number 11501) as I thought training would be an opportunity to think about things as well as a good way to raise some money for a connected charity.
**************UPDATE******************
Thought I'd update the page to let everyone know how the half marathon went. It was a lovely day with beautiful weather and lots of music and bystanders cheering. I did the half marathon in 2:32:58. Managed to run the whole things apart from brief stop at St John's Ambulance to preempt what was developing into a serious case of jogger's nipple!
Thank you everyone for your support. It was great to get your encouragement and your kind words about Dad.
Knees are recovering well and thinking about the next run!
Thanks again,
Adam
There are so many charities that deserve support, but I've chosen to raise money for the Men's Health Forum. This chartity focuses on improving men's health. In the case of cancer their website points out that men are 60% more likely to develop the disease and 70% more likely to die from it. They run events like the men's health week and the Male Health website to encourage better health in men. They also work for change in the health service so that men are supported to live healthy lifestyles and raise awareness so that more men get to the doctors early when there is a problem.
