Ice Baths for Amnesty or The Kilimanjaro Challenge 2022

Kilimanjaro Trek - Amnesty International UK · 21 August 2022 to 24 September 2022 ·
Hey everyone!
My name is Adam and I am a student at King's College London. I have decided to start a fundraising journey for Amnesty International and at the same time push myself to the limits by climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, hiking through every climate until reaching the peak at 5, 895m above sea level. The temperatures at the peak can reach -30 °C, which is why I will also be challenging my body by swimming in extremely cold water throughout the fundraising journey.
I will personally spend 10 minutes in freezing-cold water for each £100 donated through JustGiving to spread the word further! This will be done through a live-streaming service and I will make an announcement with details about the first ice bath when the first £100 is reached.
Amnesty International is a leading organisation campaigning for justice and human rights wherever they have been denied. Amnesty puts people at the centre of everything they do, pursuing the dream that one-day human rights will be guaranteed for all. Their inspirational work spans fundamental issues such as climate change, gender equality and freedom of speech. Each donation, no matter how big or small can help those that need it the most, not to mention the fact that it will make my journey to the top of Kilimanjaro that much more meaningful.
Amnesty is also one of the main supporters of refugees globally. Did you know that there are currently around 26 million refugees in the world? This number is unfortunately quickly increasing in light of the conflict in Ukraine and while the need to address the refugee crisis is at an all-time high, unfortunately so is the level of anti-refugee rhetoric and misinformation about refugees. Yet, they are ordinary people like you and me, who have lost everything. They’ve left their entire lives behind, often with just the clothes on their backs. They want to make sure their kids can go to school. They want to work and they want to contribute to our communities. Just like us, they seek a life of dignity, freedom and security. Therefore upon raising the first £1000 I will walk 26 miles (42 kilometres) - 1 mile for every 1 million refugees in solidarity with these refugees that have suffered a cruel turn of events.
For an idea of the impact you can have:
£5 - Raises awareness of human rights abuses and helps get your voice heard by policy-makers
£10 - Supports human rights education projects to teach school children about their rights
£15 - Helps send human rights researchers to investigate torture and abuses
