Story
Two years ago, I fought in my first ever boxing match in front of hundreds of people. It was the most terrifying, exhilarating, and exhausting thing I’ve ever done. I put up a good fight at the start, but it went rapidly downhill from there and was stopped by the ref in Round 2. My long list of excuses included the fact that I was 29 years older than my opponent, and that he had lots more boxing experience than me. Despite everyone telling me that “it’s the taking part that counts”, I reckon winning would be pretty good too, so now I’m back for another try, on 23rd March at the Matford Centre, Exeter.
This time, I’m raising money for UNICEF UK, which is a charity close to my heart. As a kid, I took for granted the food on the table, clean water, shelter, education, healthcare, vaccinations and the peace, safety, and stability in my home country. Kids should be able to take all this for granted and enjoy their childhood, but we all know that many can’t. UNICEF do a vital job in helping children deal with unimaginable hardships, making like that little bit easier for them. In 190 countries and territories, UNICEF works to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through adolescence. Please donate whatever you can to support their work. Please share this page with as many people as you can, and if you would like to buy tickets for the fight, just give me a shout.
