Story

Anyone who's ever seen me in action on the sports field, or witnessed, my pale flacid torso on the beach will find the idea of me running pretty funny. The idea of me attempting a half marathon will probably make some people collapse in uncontrollable mirth.

But run it I shall... and hopefully as a byproduct of all this amusement, we can also raise some money for a truly great charity: Childline.

Sophie (aka the missus) volunteers there every week and has told me how funding constraints are affecting the organisation, already forcing it to cut staff and threatening much needed initiatives.

So please give generously, in the knowledge you will have a direct positive impact on people's lives.

Thank you!

ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC
