Story
Hi and thanks for visiting my page. I'm extremely grateful for your support and help towards raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (L&LR) and Scope.
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR DONATIONS SO FAR. LOOKING FORWARD TO RAISING MORE FOR L&LR...
You can follow me now on Twitter at @adamjhogg
My hope is to raise £1000 for Scope and then a further £1000 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a charity of particular importance to me having lost my mother to leukaemia as a teenager and thankfully seeing my close friend successfully fight off lymphoma 15-years later, thanks to the research and advances in medicine.
MY STORY
The story of how I have ended up entering this ridiculous event 4 months ago seems pretty straight forward when I look back. As seasoned old hands in the triathlon world, my brothers-in-law had already decided to enter their second Ironman race and secured entry to IM Wales many months before. This meant that the whole family (including me) were planning to head to Tenby for the weekend to watch the boys take part. ...To watch?! Why am I going to watch this..?
It slowly dawned on me that this was something I should have a crack at; a challenge like few others, and if I fail then I will have tried.
At that point I had never taken part in a triathlon, knew relatively little about the sport and was in the worst physical fitness of my life. All that had to change...and I had 5 months to do it in.
WHAT IS IRONMAN WALES?
An endurance triathlon through the hills and mountains of Tenby and west Wales on 14 Sept 2014, reputed to be one of the toughest Ironman courses on the world circuit.
- 3.8km sea swim in Tenby...then a 1km run uphill to a...
- 112 mile (180km) bike race through the hills of west Wales...followed immediately by a...
- 26.3 mile (42km) hilly marathon run through the inclines of Tenby!
THANKS AGAIN FOR READING AND PLEASE DONATE IF YOU ARE ABLE............All the best, Adam
