Story
Dear All,
From 10am Thursday 26th August to 7pm Monday 30th August, I will be playing Cricket non-stop for 105 hours to create a new Guinness World Record. The majority of the money raised will be going to charities such as Breast Cancer Research, Orchid (Fighting Male Cancers), Sue Ryder Homes and our own Playing Field Association.
The record has been hotly contested over the last 3 years with it changing hands more than half a dozen times as each hemisphere turns from Winter to Summer. It is currently held by an Australian team at 67 hours, although a Kiwi side has recently played for 100 hours but they have bent the rules to set this time. It was our intention to play for 100 hours but we have now adjusted that to 105 as a consequence of this.
We want to raise as much money as possible for various causes as well as set a lasting time that others may think twice about beating. Such is the length of time that we are attempting to play that it has put off a number of our players and indeed the health concerns involved have meant that planning has had to be far more meticulous than last time.
Both teams will be playing in pink and purple colours to represent the acknowledged 'awareness' colours of Breast Cancer and Testicular Cancer. We will also be appearing on Cricket AM on the 7th of August at 9am - 10.30am, to be broadcast live on Sky 1 and Sky Sports 1.
Please support this worthy event with a donation or come and support the event over August Bank Holiday weekend where there are plenty of planned events happening which will be released in the press nearer to the time.
Thanks for reading.
