Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My best friend Paul Sheridan sadly passed away on the 9th
of April 2014 aged 34. He was cycling home from work when his heart suddenly
stopped. He was, to everyone’s knowledge including his own, a very fit and
healthy guy. Paul was a wonderfully awesome individual. An amazing friend,
husband, farther, brother, son, physiotherapist, athlete, an all-round great
guy. Fond of running and cycling Paul had completed 7 marathons and several
challenging bike sportives. He would run daily and he loved it.
I am fortunate enough to have gained entry into the London 2015 Marathon which I plan to run for the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). They offer free Echocardiograms (ECGs – a measurement of the how well one’s heart is beating…) and a chat with a cardiologist for anyone between the ages of 14-35 years old. The aim of the charity is to pick up on any possible cardiac anomalies and therefore reduce the chance of what happened to Paul happening to someone else.
Although raising money for CRY will not bring Paul back I am hoping that it will help to raise the charities profile and that any money raised will help to continue to fund the excellent work which they do.
I appreciate that a lot of people these days run marathons and raise money for charities. If you are not in a position to be able to contribute to the charity and also if you are, then I IMPLORE YOU, if you are between 14 and 35 years of age, then PLEASE visit the CRY website (http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/) and sign up for a free ECG check. The only cost to you will be time out of your day to travel to and from the centre and to undertake the appointment (which is painless and non-invasive). Your loved ones will thank you for it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any contributions are hugely appreciated.
Stay happy and healthy.
Lots of love,
