Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may already be aware but Cancer Research UK is a charity very close to me, as I sadly lost my mum to this terrible disease many years ago and a good friend and colleague, Richard Stansfield, also lost his battle with Cancer in April this year.
From time to time I like to do my bit to raise funds to support the great work done by Cancer Research UK and past fundraising events include a parachute jump, walking Hadrians Wall, the Great North Run and the London Marathon. However, on 19th July I shall be taking on my greatest challenge yet and cycling from Brittany on the northern Coast of France, to..... Barcelona! (via the Pyrenees).
The route is close to 800 miles (over 1250 km) with 8,850 metres of climbing, which happens to be the same height as Everest! And best of all, we have only 12 cycling days to complete the challenge. Myself and two friends will have been in training for a year by the time the trip begins and I must confess that it will be an almighty challenge, trying to average close to 70 miles per day across such terrain in the middle of the European summer, fully laden with Panniers and with no support vehicle - not to mention the physical impact of all that time in the saddle!
I am under no illusion as to the enormity of the challenge ahead but I know that it is for a very worthwhile cause and that one day we will be able to beat all forms of Cancer, so please dig deep and donate now. Thank you so much. Adam
PS 100% of all contributions goes to Cancer Research UK. Any costs associated with trip are covered entirely by ourselves.
