Adam's 4/4/48 Challenge

4/4/48 Challenge · 28 August 2021
I’ve chosen to support Rainbow Trust Children's Charity because it enables families who have a child with a life threatening illness to make the most of precious time together; providing expert practical and emotional support, where they need it, for as long as it is needed. £26 will provide one hour of care, enough time to entertain a seriously ill child so that their parents can have a break.
I hated running a year ago- it was boring and I wasn’t built for it…being 95kgs probably didn’t help!! When the gyms closed for the second time last year I decided I wouldn’t sit around doing nothing and eating too much so invested in some running gear and hit the streets.
Running 5km was a struggle when I started but it wasn’t long before I was running faster and further each time I went out. I hit my longest ever distance run in January at 21km in 1hr 54mins and then set out to beat the fastest time. After a short period of injury (2months!!) On 15th May I smashed this time when I completed the half marathon distance in 1hr45mins.
Whilst it was a great personal achievement it got me to thinking how can I turn personal achievement into making a difference to others. Thanks to a seed planted by Calum (I’ll hate you in a couple of months) I couldn’t get the 4/4/48 challenge out of my head.
Supported by work and the home crew, Gosia and the Boys, I’ll be taking the 2nd & 3rd September off work to complete this challenge and hoping to raise a decent sum of money in the process.
Thanks for your support- any donation you can give will make a real difference to families who need it!
