Story
Three years ago my dad suffered a sudden heart attack and passed away. He was a fit middle-aged man that loved hill walking and played rugby in his university days. His loss was a total shock to everyone and I have lived in fear ever since that something similar might happen to me, my mum or another loved one. I realized that being in good shape and eating right just isn't enough.
This year I decided to run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC to raise money for SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome). SADS is a British charity that works to raise awareness of cardiac risk in the young and middle aged and prevent sudden death by doing things like placing defibrillators in schools and sports clubs. They also have qualified counselors and helpers who have experienced a SADS death and offer support.
I know that my family and friends are now split between the UK, China and the United States but I hope you are able to use this website to donate in whatever currency you like. Or if you would like to donate to a similar charity in a different country that would also be great. Just let me know.
Thanks for visiting this page. I'll keep everyone updated with training and times. Target is to beat my last run of 3hr 25mins, though I'll be carrying some extra weight as I am back playing rugby at HBS now.
Best,
Adam
