Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On the 8th of September, ActiveWin’s Natalie Thornley, Adam
Rowley, Jenny Cox, Graham Hoy, Stephanie Banks, and Daniel Goux will take on the largest half marathon in the world, in support of Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK.
Yes, we plucky souls will be lacing up our running shoes and tackling The Great North Run, hoping to raise money and awareness for SMA.
We’ll be pounding the roads for a whopping 13.1 miles, from Newcastle’s city centre to the coast in South Shields.
So, why on earth would we put ourselves through that?
Well, it’s for a fantastic cause!
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare, genetically inherited neuromuscular condition, which causes progressive muscle weakness and loss of movement due to muscle wasting (atrophy).
There are different forms of SMA and a wide spectrum of how
severely children, young people, and adults are affected. For children with one of the more severe forms of the disease, life expectancy has been estimated at less than two years.
Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK works tirelessly researching
cures and treatments and providing vital support and information, to those affected by SMA.
They ensure everyone in the SMA community can access the
best care, services and treatments and benefit from continued research.
SMA UK relies solely on donations and grants to fund this
important work, so anything you can give would be gratefully received.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally
