Story
Mental illnesses are something that impact each and every one of us in some way, whether that is through directly experiencing one ourselves (1 in 4 people will at some point in their lives) or indirectly through someone we know - a colleague, a friend, a family member, someone we love.
As we know the past year and a half has been exceptionally challenging. Lives have been lost, livelihoods have been strained and social connection has been limited.
Scarily, but perhaps unsurprisingly, mental health has seen a rapid decline as a result. It is now being referred to as the silent pandemic and it isn't something that we can afford to ignore.
Which is why, as part of my mental wellness role, I have set up this fundraiser to raise money for mental health charity Leeds Mind. Myself and 22 of my wonderfully inspiring colleagues at Altinet (also based in Leeds) are walking a total of 5,000,000 steps throughout the month of June. To put that into perspective, it's approximately 2,500 miles, so just over 100 miles each for the month.
Any support you are able to provide, whether that's an encouraging cheer, sharing this link, or kindly giving a donation means the absolute world to us all.
Thank you, stay safe and take care xo
