Story
Join us at Active+ Albany as we march over the Long Bay cliffs to Move over Cancer on Sunday June 13th at 10.00am.
It will be a chance to get out in the fresh air at Long Bay and catch up with other cancer rehab clients as well as an opportunity to pay forward by raising funds for others who may need a rehabilitation programme.
Move Over Cancer was one of our annual events that we missed out on last year, due to COVID, and we would like once again to have the opportunity to metaphorically give cancer a kick over the cliff. Please join us, even if you don’t have a loved one or a personal reason for doing this. Sadly, most of us do!
We will meet in the car park closest to Vaughan Residence at 10.30am, wrap up warmly and we hope to grab a cuppa in Long Bay village at the end. If the weather is too rough, we will postpone until the following week.
Cancer Rehabilitation is focused on improving the quality of life and experience of people diagnosed with cancer. It is not focused on the disease, it is focused on people, and helping them get back to living. Many people emerge from treatment facing struggles far beyond their illness. If people miss out on cancer rehabilitation services unnecessary suffering and disability frequently occur. If people receive cancer rehab services, they have better health outcomes, suffer less distress from symptoms, experience less uncertainty and fear, and report better mental and physical quality of life over their lifetime.Medical treatment may save lives, but cancer rehab gives people their lives back.
