Story
As a firm we have been working with Cauda Equina Champions Charity for 18 months or so and are one of their founding legal partners. In particular our clinical negligence and personal injury team work closely with the charity to help people with this life-changing condition.
They, like many other charities, have been strapped for cash over the pandemic and need to ensure that they can continue to do their good work by raising as much funds as possible to support people with cauda equina syndrome who are often left to fend for themselves when discharged from hospital.
The charity launched a campaign encouraging people to do 1 million steps of activity to raise funds in February. Our team thought we would be a bit creative about "steps" and doing cook-alongs of Indian cuisine by video instead of walking or running – any excuse for eating and drinking!
Cauda Equina Champions Charity obtained charity status in 2020. Our Board of Trustees are patient led, and most importantly people living with cauda equina syndrome, their families and loved ones are at the forefront of everything we do. Using our unique insight into the patient perspective we offer bespoke services for patients through our own experiences of living with and adapting to life with CES. From our humble beginnings as a small Facebook support group of 30 members ten years ago we have grown to become the patient voice for CES patients in the UK and beyond.
