Story
The Acre Foundation is the charitable arm of the sustainability recruitment consultancy Acre, based out of London, New York and Amsterdam. Run by our team, the Foundation's focus has paralleled that of the business; to impact people, communities and the environment in which we work. Every year we undertake a charity challenge, this year is no different.
In October 2019, 12 Acre employees will be making the trip to Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, to trek The Accursed Mountain range. As per our challenge in 2018, we will once again be raising money for Plastic Oceans Foundation. Working closely with Jo Ruxton, the Executive Producer and Co-Founder of Plastic Oceans Foundation, we want to focus all of our support into this charity, addressing the global issue of plastic pollution and how it impacts sea life, our waters and humans.
This year, by travelling to rather unexplored ex Yugoslavian nations, we hope to impact deprived areas of deprived countries with our tourism. To educate ourselves, and to hopefully educate others in what we find. With no electricity and little infrastructure, we will be travelling to one of the remotest parts of Europe. As far from the connected 21st century metropolis’ we are used living and working in, we are aiming again to impact people, communities and the environment.
We have a fundraising target of £7,000 overall. If you would like to donate directly to a friend or colleague's fundraiser for their efforts in the trek, please ask them for their link or find it in our fundraising team.
In the meantime, I would urge you to view A Plastic Ocean. A documentary revealing the devastating causes and consequences of plastic pollution.
