Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Louis, and I will be climbing Aconcagua (6962m), the tallest mountain outside of Asia, and one of the seven summits, with two of my friends and climbing partners, Hassan and Kenji, from December 25th to January 14th. The climb is a massive undertaking involving months of training, in order to combat the effects of high altitude and hypoxic atmospheres above 6000m.
We are climbing in support of Race Against Dementia, a charity that funds ground-breaking and critical research into developing treatment and prevention of Dementia and Alzheimers.
Dementia does not discriminate with its victims and can affect all types of the elderly, even those who are seemingly in good health and not predisposed to mental illnesses.
About 1 in 9 age 65 and older (10.7%) has Alzheimer's.And there are a record 55 million people living with Dementia in the world, often caused by the onset of Alzheimer's.
Race Against Dementia's cause is particularly important to me as I have witnessed the detrimental effects of Dementia and Alzheimers, and the debilitating symptoms that effect the mind.
Please help by giving anything you can.
